le sous-bock, an incredible little beer bar, is less than 10 minutes from the louvre! i walked over here for lunch during a break in my sightseeing. my selection, mussels mariniere and fries, was pretty standard french fare. but when the waitress brought out my meal, i was bowled over by the portion size!! the picture i took doesn't do it justice, but it was the largest portion of mussels i've ever seen (and i ate every one of them)!
to drink, i had a bottle of pietra, a corsican beer made with chestnuts! it was an awesome beer and went beautifully with the mussels.
after lunch i took a quick walk over to au trappiste, another beer bar, before resuming my sightseeing walk.
