summer solstice 2008

summer arrives today - woo hoo!! albeit a smidge before midnight, 23:59 coordinated universal time (a/k/a greenwich mean time) - 11:59 pm, in non-military engish. for us east coasters, it's officially here at 7:59 pm tonight! tomorrow will be the first full day of summer.

for me, one song that comes to mind is the grateful dead's "the wheel" as an appropriate kick-off to summer. or, then again, maybe the go-go's "vacation," is more mainstream. whatever your taste in music, even if it's silence, get outside and grab a bit of sunshine today!

carpe diem, because, tomorrow, the days will start getting shorter...

On my way to Conn to see a friend compete in a triathlon. I'll get lots of sun there.
