"unisphere 100k" update: race report and photos to follow

the high heat and humidity had richie cancel the 100k today. he substituted a 50 miler on the same course. instead of 26 loops of the park for the 100k, we ran only 21 loops for 50 miles. runners could also opt for the 50k distance(13 loops), but only the 50 mile race would be scored for the ny ultra grand prix series.

it was a very tough day out there. we had constant sun, no shade, high heat and humidity - until the late afternoon when clouds, thunder and eventually thunderstorms arrived.

i finished the 50 miler in 9:47. emmy finished the 50 miler in 9:10 - not only a pr for her, but she won the womens race!! rob switched over to the 50k and finished in 6:24.

full report and photos tomorrow.

CONGRATULATIONS! I hope you are happy with how it netted out. Glad to see the race director was prepared with options. Sounds like a well run operation ... better than last week! :) Rest easy today and HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Great job Frank. A little odd thought that Richie would drop the race to 50 miles. It wasn't nearly as bad out there as last weekdn, and we're only talking about another 12 miles, right ? Well, at least Richie made a decision and went with it.

Frank, great job just finishing the 50 miles yesterday. I'm glad I stopped after 50k, the heat was really getting to me. I think it was a great workout for you & Emmy, since you could easily see that kind of weather in Vermont next month.

Hope you have a great Father's Day!

Frank, Good work on the fifty miler. Both you and your friend ran some excellent times. When do you plan to run the Western States 100?

Whenever I think I may be getting a little immodest about running Marathons, all I need to do is come here for some humble pie.
Holy Cow! You ran 50 miles in yesterday's weather! Nice job rundangerously!!!
