the september race schedule kicks off this morning with the van cortlandt track club's brand new b'ramble at van cortlandt park. this race takes the place of its erstwhile classic, the riverdale ramble. as for races, it also falls in the middle of a rare 3 race weekend, following on yesterday's westport summer series 10 miler and tomorrow's new haven 20k (a race I haven't run in years!).
but aside from this weekend's race trio, september doesn't look like it will have too many races because of a mid-month trip to kuala lumpur - which basically wipes out 2 weekend worth or race opportunities. even so, there are plenty of good races this month. in fact, next weekend will also be a another triple - by way of the tuckahoe challenge on sunday (a one mile race immediately followed by a 5 mile race). i've done that one many times - especially the one miler as part of the parent-child team race with katie! the day before is the nyrr run for autism 4 miler.
the biggest question mark of the month is the 9/11 memorial run around manhattan 50k. i would be much happier running it had i gotten in a marathon last month (missed because of the trip to michigan). so this one would be my longest run since the Roxbury marathon last december - and an ultra to boot. stay tuned for that one.
last, but not least, is the bronx 10 miler to close out the month. it will be race number 4 in the grand prix series (and my second 10 miler of the month!). it will also wrap up my 9+1 requirement for the 2014 marathon!
here's how it looks so far:
9/1 - vctc b'ramble 10k
9/2 - new haven road race 20k
9/7 - nyrr run for autism 4m
9/8 - tuckahoe challenge, 1m
9/8 - tuckahoe challenge, 5m
9/11 - run around manhattan 50k
9/29 - nyrr bronx 10 miler
as always, if you're at any of them - say hello!
