september 2009 race schedule

my tentative september schedule has one new race - the jan peek 10k. that race is normally held during the first week of august, so the new date makes it possible for me to check it out - after years of schedule conflicts. the rest of this month's races are old friends on my race calendar.

tonight kicks off the month with the last race in the waveny summer xc series, the 2 mile luminaria loop. depending on how much field hockey practice takes out of her, katie may even join me for that one. then it's back to connecticut for the westport labor day 10 miler on saturday, and the final norwalk summer series race - the half marathon - the following weekend.

the next day, sunday, is a conflict between the south nyack 10 miler and the tuckahoe challenge. this time around the tuckahoe challenge has the edge, but i may still change my mind on this one. last year i missed both the half marathon (at which i volunteered) and the south nyack 10 miler (which i opted not to run at the last minute) because of a serious bout with anemia.

the following weekend is another trip back to fairfield county, for the fall frolic 30k. last year i also passed up this one (although i did volunteer for that one too) because of the lingering anemia issue. then the month ends with a pair of nyrr races, the fifth avenue mile and the marathon tune-up.
