Beaujolais Noveau - 2018!

I love the third Thursday in November, when the Beaujolais Nouveau arrives!  It's my second favorite day of November, behind only the 1st Sunday in November (NYCM) :D

This is the third year in a row that I teach an evening class, so I purchased two bottles in the afternoon from a local wine merchant in the financial district (as opposed to when I would get home from work and stop in at Zachy's).

After class, I carried them home in my knapsack. Which is saying something since the commute involve snow and slush!  But it was worth the hassle to sample a glass the fresh new vintage!

Beaujolais Nouveau - 2017!

But, give the late hour, sampling the brand new vintage will need to wait until tomorrow!

Beaujolais Nouveau 2016 :D

I love the third Thursday in November because the brand new bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau are released here in the United States (thanks to the wonders of air delivery).  I picked up two bottles on the way home from work today - although haven't opened one yet.  That will be for tomorrow night (Friday).

Last year I found a great little wine shop downtown and bought a pair of the new releases in the City.  I may go back there and see what he has available (and it's always a great idea to support the small mom & pop shops - of any stripe, really).

Cheers to everyone who tried some of the 2016 releases today!

Beaujolais Nouveau 2015 :D

I love it when the new bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau arrive the week before Thanksgiving!  I typically pick up a couple of bottles and open one that night.  Today was no different, except I picked up a bottle in the city because Zachy's would be closed by the time I got home (had class tonight).

It turned out to be an interesting trip because, instead of the typical George Duboeuf that I normally pick up, the shop owner (tiny little place on Maiden Lane) steered me to this Paul Durdilly (his best seller last year) instead.  I opted to skip the newest "thing" a Beaujolai Nouveau rose' he just stocked.

His recommendation was pretty good (I'm drinking it as I write this :D)... so I may go back an try that rose' after all :D

2009 beaujolais nouveau est arrive!

i still get a thrill from the arrival of beaujolais nouveau - it just never gets old (pardon the pun)! on my way home from work today i'll stop off at zachys and pick up a bottle or two of the just arrived georges debouf beaujolais nouveau. later, and slightly chilled, i hope to pair it with some pizza for dinner tonight!

last year my stop at zachys was a modest let-down because their shipment was late. luckily, plan b kicked in and i picked up a couple of bottles at a wine store across town. in any event, i'm looking forward to tasting some young fresh wine at dinner tonight :D
