march 2013 race schedule

i'm still having difficulty with the idea of 2013... and march has suddenly arrived - yikes!  on the positive side, despite that rogue snowstorm at the start of last month that upended most of the february race schedule, it seems as if the groundhog phil's prediction of an early spring was on the mark after all. yeah!

march races kick off this weekend with the boston buildup 25k in fairfield.  that's probably the toughest course of the 4 boston buildup races (the 30k, unofficial end to the series, is actually the easiest of the buildup races).  the following weekend is the celebrate life half marathon.  it will be my first time running it, but not my first attempt. i've registered for it twice in the past, but for various reason never got to run it.  hopefully, the third will be a charm.

mid-month will be the taconic st. patrick's day races at fdr park.  i'll run the 10k and volunteer at the 2 miler that precedes it.  those races are on the same day as the nyc half.  if they didn't conflict, i would have been a race day volunteer at the half b/c the nyrr are giving volunteers guaranteed entry if they work race day!  not a bad deal (if you're willing to pay the ridiculously high price for the race) :O

then up is another tough conflict between the boston blowout 30k and the wurtsboro mountain 30k. normally they're held on consecutive day over the same weekend - a fantastic double.  unfortunately, this year they're both on the same day.  i'll probably opt for wurtsboro - one of my all time favorite races (at any distance).

easter weekend is the bunny boogie. and, with any luck, katie will run that too! it's a race she's done many times - and the chocolate bunnies jim give out as prizes are great :D

here's how it looks so far:

3/3 - boston buildup 25k
3/10 - celebrate life half marathon
3/17 - trrc st. patrick's day 10k
3/24 - wurtsboro mountain 30k
3/30 - bunny boogie 3 miler

as always, if you're at any of them, say hello!
