Witte Torando and Lady Netherlands medium wave pirate radio 1647 khz (via SDR) eQSL

I received this great eQSL this morning, from Witte Tornado and Lady!  I tuned in to their broadcast from the Netherlands on 1647 kHz (just above the standard medium wave band), via the SDR at Twente (also in the Netherlands).  Mixed in with the Dutch music played were various shout outs to listeners!

Thanks Gerard!

Radio Oliebollenbakkers Netherlands mediumwave pirate radio 1645 khz (via SDR) Holiday eQSL

This great eQSL arrived last night from Radio Oliebollenbakkers (within half hour of submitting reception report)!  If it wasn't for at heads up via Facebook, would not have heard this broadcast!  I tuned in to their show on 1645 kHz (just north of the standard AM band), not only were they giving shout out to listeners (one from Finland, I noted) - but they gave one out to me (yours truly) as well!  In addition to the various shout outs to listeners, they requested reception reports and said special eQSLs would be sent out.

Many thanks for the show - and eQSL - Radio Oliebollenbakkers!

Pirate Radio Stations Verified Certificate from L'Associazione Italiana Radioacolto (L'A.I.R.) - Level 2

Today I received my new Certificate from L'Associazione Italiana Radioascolto (roughly translated, the Italian Radio Listeners Association) for having verified reception of 50 or more pirate radio stations!   It is the 2nd of the 4 levels of recognition, in terms of the number of stations heard and verified (10, 30, 50 and 100 stations), with regard to non-traditional (e.g. pirate) broadcasters.  Last month i earned the 3rd level Certificate (30 or more pirate stations verified).

Of the 50 submissions for this level, approximately twenty percent (20%) are North American pirate broadcasters. The remaining eighty percent (80%) are European pirates logged via the SDR at the University of Twente.

It may take me a few more months to reach the 1st level (100 or more stations) - but it will be fun getting there!

Thank you Fiorenzo for processing my diploma!

"Radio City" relayed via Challenger Radio 847 khz (via SDR) eQSL

Received this great eQSL from Radio City this afternoon - just a couple of hours after submitting a reception report.  Interestingly, it's program was being relayed on 3 different frequencies - by two separate broadcasters!  I started on 7290 kHz (relayed via IRRS in Italy) - but the band was pretty much closed/dead.  I moved down to 1368 kHz (relayed Challenger Radio, Padova, Italy) and found Radio City battling with another station to be heard.  Finally, on 847 kHz (also relayed by Challenger Radio in Padova, Italy) was reception possible!  The last two frequencies were medium wave (as opposed to shortwave).

Thanks Radio City!

"Radio Nova 4" Netherlands medium wave pirate radio 1620 khz (via SDR) eQSL

This eQSL arrived less than an hour ago - and I heard Radio Nova 4 for the first time, this morning, on 1620 kHz, via the SDR at Twente.  Not only was the eQSL a surprise, but so too was the log of Radio Nova 4 - which I heard at the office, while I took a short break from work-related matters!

Thank you Radio Nova 4!

"Radio Armada" Netherlands medium wave pirate radio 1647 khz (via SDR) eQSL

Received this great eQSL from Radio Armada this morning.  This was a medium wave pirate radio station broadcasting from the Netherlands on 1647 kHz.  I heard Radio Armada via the SDR at the University of Twente.  What makes this especially interesting for me is that I logged Radio Armada while I was in Kuala Lumpur last week!

Thanks Jan!

"relmus radio" Netherlands mediumwave pirate radio (via SDR) eQSL

this eQSL from relmus radio, broadcasting on 1655 kHz from the Netherlands is my first medium wave pirate station.  it arrived this morning, on the drive up to the escarpment trail run!  not sure if the grim reaper was an omen of things to come (but luckily, did not come to pass - haha)!

i heard the relmus radio broadcast on the SDR in Twente.  my very first pirate logged, and pirate QSL for that matter, was way way back in 1977 - from WCPR, also a medium wave (AM) pirate!  i've heard a few more European medium wave pirate stations, hopefully they will reply in the near future.

radio new zealand qsl (eQSL, that is) :D

i've been an avid radio listener since the 1970's - when as a teenager i spent countless hours trying to tune in distant stations over the shortwave (and then medium wave) bands.  i also spent countless hours collecting qsl cards (typically postcard size replies from those radio stations confirming that you did, in fact, hear their station in all that static - hi).  the qsl bug returned last month!

it's been years (maybe 25+) since i've actually collected a real - old school - qsl card.  i don't know what came over me last month, but i sent a reception report to radio new zealand international, via email.  i heard them sign off on one frequency and then start broadcasting on a new frequency.  it was so 21st century! then, in about 2 weeks, the above qsl arrived in my mailbox - or, correctly stated, the above eQSL arrived via email :D

that was my very first eQSL!  i will note, for posterity - that i did verify reception of radio new zealand with an actual qsl card (in the shape of a pennant, no less) back in the day - via an actual letter sent via snail mail.  i may dig it out and post a picture for comparison :D
